Blessings ... of Joy

As a full-time mother, I consider motherhood a divine blessing. The first giggle, the first smile, the first laughter, the first steps—each of these precious moments bring immense joy that nothing else can replace. A warm embrace from my partner holds its own irreplaceable comfort. Now that my children are grown, even a simple phone call from them reminds me how blessed I am. At home, the affectionate gaze of my dog, Jasmine, adds another layer of happiness. All these blessings are what truly define joy. For me, joy is not just an emotion; it’s an essential part of life. It’s a profound, positive feeling that brings happiness, fulfilment, and delight. Joy goes beyond fleeting moments of pleasure, offering us a sense of appreciation for life’s beauty, even in challenging times. When we are filled with joy, it radiates outward, spreading warmth in relationships and positivity in every aspect of life. After all, who doesn’t want to be around people who carry an aura of joy? There’s a ...

Happiness ... reach it !!

As I strolled through the park during my evening walk, accompanied by my husband — a fellow enthusiast of leisurely walks — I observed a group of children. Their exuberance was contagious: they jumped, shouted, and played with abandon. Remarkably, they had no modern gadgets in tow; their joy emanated purely from the simple act of being alive. This scene transported me back in time, prompting introspection. Why is it that as adults, we often struggle to find the same unbridled happiness? Why do we complicate our lives with responsibilities and duties, losing sight of the sheer delight that once came effortlessly? Growing up introduces us to a world of obligations. We become entangled in the web of materialistic pursuits, associating happiness with possessions and achievements. We postpone joy, believing it awaits us in some distant future. When circumstances align with our desires, we feel elation; when they diverge, sadness prevails. It’s as if our happiness is tethered t...

Magic … of Dreams

Martin Luther King Jr's iconic speech, “I Have a Dream” reverberates across time and continents. It etched a new direction for America, challenging prejudice and injustice. Curiously, those same four words— “I have a dream” —also dance through ABBA’s melodic refrain, evoking nostalgia from the '70s and '80s. Music, too, carries dreams on its harmonious wings. On achieving something special, I have seen people saying “it is like a dream come true”. Even I dreamt of fairyland, life filled with love and all beautiful relationships. Dreams, are universal. Dreams—the delicate whispers of our souls—hold immense power. Dreams serve as the bedrock of our aspirations. They ignite purpose, fuelling our long-term focus. Imagine aspirations as Google maps —helping us navigate, in our complex journey of life. Dreams remain sweet as long as they remain untested. But when we translate them into action, fear tiptoes in. Risk, frustration, and difficulty —these are the hurdles we fear. Th...

Invest ... in emotions

We all strive for a fulfilling life, and at the heart of such a life are strong, nurturing relationships. As emotional beings, our feelings guide us. Can we harness these emotions to enhance our lives? This is where emotional investment comes into play. Emotional investment is about giving and receiving without expecting much in return. We invest emotionally when we love and care for someone, connecting on a deeper level through active listening, openness, shared interests, and creating lasting memories. It also involves respecting each other's differences and quirks—whether they are our spouse, friends, parents, or children. These shared moments, especially the humorous ones, become cherished memories that strengthen our emotional bonds. Much like financial investments, emotional investments are made with the hope of future returns. Both types of investments carry risks and rewards and benefit from a long-term perspective. While not every emotional investment will yield significan...

Sharing ... Open up!!

We regularly share thoughts with acquaintances, in our personal and professional life. On a basic level, it can be relieving and liberating. Being mindful about what is at stake and who is there to receive the sharing is extremely pertinent. Sharing with the right person can create magic. There is no right thumbrule for sharing. sometimes it takes the right moment and favourable circumstances to open up. Many of us hesitate to express our opinions or stories for too long. Sharing our emotions can build courage, but doubt and insecurity often lurk beneath the surface. Don’t let these fears dominate your confidence and destroy your comfort. As mentioned earlier, sharing with the right person can create magic. You’ll realize how much energy you’ve been wasting by holding back your inner feelings. While you might face judgment, you’ll also discover that the fear of being judged was painful and ultimately out of your control. Sharing your emotions is like lifting a heavy weight off yo...
